Our UVC lights for HVAC applications fall into 2 basic categories. The first is lights designed to treat the evaporator coil and drain pan inside the air handler. This is an area that is very susceptible to organic growth. Using UVC light on the coil reduces the need for coil cleanings and keeps the coil clean and odor-free. The second category is in-duct air stream UVC lights. These units are designed to treat the air as it passes through the light field in the air ducts or plenum.

Used overseas for years and starting to catch on in the US, UVC light is used to break down grease inside commercial kitchen exhaust hoods. A combination of UVC light and ozone converts the grease into water and CO2. The water is evaporated and vents out with the CO2 through the exhaust vent. This process eliminates odors and minimizes expensive and messy exhaust hood cleanings while also reducing fire hazards.

These units bring the power of UV-C to your water system. Sizes available for under-sink single faucet treatment (2 GPM) or whole-house treatment (10-20 GPM). Will not change color, odor or taste of water. Designed for residential and light commercial applications. These fixtures perform like high-end industrial water treatment fixtures without the costly, sophisticated technology and related accessories that are simply unnecessary in residential applications.

When choosing a UVC light, be sure to choose a manufacturer that will be around year after year to provide quality bulb replacements. All too often, buyers regret buying cheap, plastic units made overseas when it comes time to replace the bulb and no replacements can be found. This section of the site contains replacement bulbs for every product that we sell. Our manufacturer has been making UV lights and bulbs since 1960. We will be here with replacement bulbs and parts whenever you need them. We recommend changing bulbs once per year on most units (See individual product pages for the exact bulb replacement recommendations.)

GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

Our UVC lights are not cheap either in price or quality. They are commercial-grade products that are used in industrial, commercial and healthcare applications. Is UV-C Light Safe?

Humans and pets should avoid prolonged direct exposure to UV-C light. Our products are used in areas where humans do not contact the light, like inside your HVAC system or in the top layer of air (7 feet and higher) in an occupied room. Direct exposure results in temporary skin redness and eye irritation.  Unlike some UV-C lights, our HVAC and Healthcare lights DO NOT produce ozone, a gas that is harmful to humans and pets. Avoid touching UV-C bulbs as the oil from our skin can cause a "hot spot" and reduce the bulb's lifespan.

UV or UV-C?

Although often used interchangeably, UV light and UV-C light have different definitions. Ultraviolet (or UV) light falls in the electromagnetic spectrum between visible light and X-rays with a wavelength from 10 nm to 400 nm. The sun emits three different types of UV light: UV-A, UV-B, and UV-C. UV-C light (200-280 nm) has the shortest wavelength and the highest energy. It is powerful enough to inactivate microorganisms. So, UV is a broad term whereas UV-C is a specific germicidal type of UV light.  We generally use the term "UV-C light" on this website but use the more common "UV light" in our marketing and advertising.

What about WATTS?

Most UVC lamp sellers focus on wattage. They propagate the thinking that the higher the lamp wattage, the more powerful the germicidal effects of the unit. However, the lamp wattage stats show how much power the lamp uses. What is much more important is the lamp OUTPUT or intensity, which is measured in units of microwatts per square centimeter. Our lamps are rated to produce 11.7 microwatts/cm2 per linear inch of lamp arc length at a distance of one meter. This output has been independently tested in airstreams of 400 feet per minute velocities at temperatures of 45 degrees F (replicating the real life conditions inside an air handler). So, keep in mind that UVC light is about time and intensity, not just energy usage in watts.
